From complex information to clear communication

Complex information, made clear

The strongest explainer videos take information that feels complicated on the page and give it a clear visual structure. Research, statistics, processes, services and ideas can be easier to follow when the audience can see how the pieces connect. Pixelo's approach combines information design, graphic design and animation to create videos that are clear enough to understand quickly while retaining the substance and credibility of the original information.

Why organisations choose Pixelo for animated explainers

We understand complex information

An effective explainer starts with understanding, not animation. We work with reports, research, data, technical information and detailed briefs to identify the message your audience actually needs to understand.

We focus on the story

A good explainer does not try to say everything. We help identify the strongest message, organise the information into a logical narrative and turn it into a concise visual story.

Design and animation work together

Pixelo brings graphic design, illustration, information design and animation together. Every visual element has a job: helping the viewer understand, remember or act on the information.

We work with your existing brand

Your explainer should feel like part of your organisation, not a generic video template. We can work within your existing brand guidelines or develop an appropriate visual style for the project.

Accessibility from the beginning

Animated explainers can be designed with accessibility in mind from the outset. We can consider readable typography, colour contrast, captions, clear visual hierarchy, audio alternatives and other requirements appropriate to your audience and intended use.

One designer. One point of contact.

You work directly with Pixelo throughout the project. From initial briefing and script development through storyboard, illustration, animation and final delivery, the process stays clear and straightforward.

Explainer videos for organisations across Ireland

Pixelo works with organisations that need to communicate complex information clearly, professionally and accessibly.

  • Government
  • Local Authorities
  • Healthcare
  • Universities
  • Education
  • Charities
  • Professional Bodies

  • Corporate Organisations

Sometimes people need the story, not every page.

Detailed reports have an important role. They provide evidence, context, methodology and the information people need to explore a subject in depth. But not every audience has the time or need to work through every page. An animated explainer can take the most important information and turn it into a concise visual summary — making the key message easier to understand, remember and share.

The report provides the detail. The animation provides the clarity.

Our process

Creating an effective explainer involves more than animation. We start by understanding the information, audience and objective, then build the story before moving into visual development and animation.

  1. 01

    Discovery

We establish the purpose of the video, the intended audience, key messages, required length, brand requirements and where the finished video will be used.

  2. 02

    Content & research

You provide the source material — which might be a report, research document, presentation, website or existing content. We review it and identify the information that matters most.

  3. 03

    Script

We turn the information into a concise narrative with clear language and a logical flow. The script becomes the foundation for the visuals and animation.

  4. 04

    Storyboard

We map the script visually, showing how the story will unfold scene by scene. This gives you a clear view of the direction before animation begins.

  5. 05

    Visual design

We develop the illustration style, graphics, typography, diagrams and visual language, using your existing brand where appropriate.

  6. 06

    Animation & sound

The approved visuals are animated and brought together with voiceover, music, sound effects and on-screen text where required.

  7. 07

    Review & refinement

You review the video at agreed stages. We manage feedback and revisions so the project stays organised and everyone is working from the same version.

  8. 08

    Final delivery

We deliver the finished video in the formats required for your website, presentations, social media, events, internal communications or other digital channels.

Accessibility

Animation should be accessible to everyone

Accessibility should be considered when an animated explainer is planned, not added as an afterthought. The right approach depends on the audience, content and where the video will be used.

Pixelo can consider accessibility throughout the creative and production process, including clear visual hierarchy, readable on-screen text, appropriate colour contrast, captions and subtitles, descriptive information where appropriate, and alternatives for audiences who cannot access the audio or visual content.

  • Clear, readable on-screen typography
  • Appropriate colour contrast
  • Captions and subtitles
  • Clear visual hierarchy and pacing
  • No information conveyed through colour alone
  • Accessible supporting text or transcripts
  • WCAG considerations for the surrounding digital experience

Animated explainer video questions, answered

An animated explainer video is a short video that uses animation, graphics, narration and sound to explain a product, service, process, idea or body of information clearly. The visual style can vary, but the purpose is always to make something easier to understand.

Yes. A report, research document, annual report, ESG report or other publication can provide the source material for an animated explainer. We identify the key information, develop a focused narrative and turn it into a concise visual story. The finished video can complement the full report rather than replace it.

There is no fixed length. The right duration depends on how much the audience needs to understand and where the video will be used. For many explainers, a focused one- to two-minute video provides enough time to communicate a clear message without adding unnecessary detail.

Yes. Accessibility can be considered throughout the design and production process. Depending on the project, this may include captions, subtitles, readable typography, colour contrast, clear visual hierarchy, transcripts and appropriate supporting content.

Yes. Pixelo works with organisations that communicate complex information to the public, stakeholders, staff and other audiences. We can create explainers for government departments, local authorities, healthcare organisations, universities, charities and professional organisations.

Yes. An existing report can be an excellent starting point. We can review the content, identify the most important findings and develop a concise narrative around the information your audience needs to understand.

Yes. Depending on the project, an explainer can include professional voiceover, music, sound effects, captions and on-screen text. These elements are selected to support the message rather than distract from it.

The cost depends on factors such as video length, script development, visual complexity, illustration style, animation requirements, voiceover, sound design, accessibility requirements and the number of review stages. Every Pixelo project is quoted individually once the scope and requirements are understood.

The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, the amount of source material, script and storyboard approvals, animation requirements and how quickly feedback can be provided. A realistic schedule is agreed at the beginning of each project.
