Designing an Annual Report That Builds Trust in Public Regulation

The Legal Services Regulatory Authority required an annual report that clearly communicated a year of complex regulatory activity to government, legal professionals and the public. The publication needed to present large volumes of statistics, governance information, complaints data and strategic initiatives in a format that was easy to navigate, visually engaging and aligned with the organisation's values of independence, innovation, consumer protection, transparency and accountability.

We developed a contemporary report design that balanced authority with accessibility. A clear visual hierarchy, custom illustrations, iconography, infographics and consistent colour palette helped simplify detailed regulatory information while reinforcing the LSRA's brand. Carefully structured layouts improved readability, allowing readers to quickly understand key achievements, governance information and operational performance across the 84-page publication.

The finished report transforms complex regulatory reporting into a clear, engaging publication that reflects the professionalism of the organisation. From the cover through to the data-rich internal pages, every element was designed to improve navigation, communicate key messages and create a polished publication suitable for both digital distribution and print.
